Random...but...I love the Arial font. Many hate it, but I don't. So, get used to seeing it here.
Today is a banner day...not really.
I started new medication yesterday, for the weight loss thing, in hopes that I could control the "wired" feeling better since it doesn't stay in your system as long as the previous one. Well, I took it at 5, which is around the time the last dose of the day is to be taken. Needless to say, that one won't be happening if it keeps me awake until 4 a.m. Staying awake is good for things like finishing a book one really wants to finish; however, not so good when you are supposed to get up and get to work. When I finally crashed, I must have died, because I slept through my alarms and overslept. Luckily, I have a great boss who let me work at home rather than have to hurry up and drive 34 miles and be really late!
Well, back to the weight loss thing. I lost a bit on the doctor scale, but nothing to write home about in the grand scheme of things. But, we are hoping the medication change will help. Also, being a female in her 40s with hormone issues (female and thyroid) doesn't help.
The boot camp Gena and I signed up for is technically over. Of course, I am sure that I didn't lose the 8 lbs needed to get my money back. Regardless, it did show me I do better in a class type atmosphere. Hard to quit when everyone else keeps pushing through it. The routine is different each time to prevent boredom and also helps the muscles not get used to anything either!
My problem? Knees. They present a catch 22. They won't get better if I don't lose weight and push them to do more...and the more I do, the more they revolt. Luckily, the trainers are very good at helping me find modifications to the squats and lunges that hurt so bad I could cry sometimes. Getting a brace helped, but doesn't fix it all. Any twisting motion is my downfall. Straightforward motions like riding a bike, walking, or even climbing stairs don't hurt the way something that requires me to put a sideways type motion does...Jumping jacks? Uhmmm, NO. Hopscotch type jumping or movement? NO. It is the sideways jolt of the impact that really hurts. Running? OMG! That hurt, too.
Not giving up though. Going to sign up for another round. But that will have to wait until Friday (payday.) Going to give yoga a try to. Less impact (basically none!), but should help develop endurance and improve strength and flexibility. I will keep you posted. Now, to figure out what to eat for lunch that does not require heating up my kitchen when it is supposed to hit 100 degrees today.
Now, if my new scale would come in...
