And so it begins...

Tis' the Season.  I just wish I could get into it.  I've been sicker than, well, a dog.  I'm still coughing and the head is congested.  But, the ear has finally opened up.  I got a wonder decongestant and 2 refills!  My doctor so loves me.   My family keeps him in business lately.
Anyway, I usually spend Thanksgiving weekend putting up the tree, the lights, etc.  Not this year.  Watch the Cowboys game anyone?  Did you see the snow flurries followed by rain?  Ski slopes can't even open because they don't have enough snow and we get it in North Texas.  Go figure.  It's been cold, rainy, windy, and, oh did I mention, RAINY?  I am glad that it finally turned cold.  It's really hard to get into the holiday mood when it's 90 degrees outside.  Let's see. When was that?  Oh, just last week!  Is it any wonder I'm sick?  The weather is crazy.
I digress though.  I think I have turned into a Scrooge.  Christmastime has always been my favorite time of year.  I love the season, the music, the tradition.  But, I just can't get into it this year.  I'm hoping that I will soon, though.  Otherwise, no Christmas parties or anything for me.  I'd be a downer, so I'd just as soon stay away.  That's the spirit, eh?
The youngest and I did go see Beowulf.  It's not the Olde English version I remember, but then again it has been 20 plus years since I was forced to read it and it was in hard to understand English.  Maybe I just didn't pay enough attention.  It was a good movie.  But, don't take anyone under the age of 14 or so.  Plenty of skin and most of the story would go over the younger set's heads.  It appeared to miss the mark for some adults in the audience as well, though.
Here's hoping the Spirit strikes me soon.

  1. I hope you're feeling better. I've got a bit of the sniffles and that's because of the sudden shift in the weather.

I'm not much in the spirit either, but I figure a few more days of Christmas music - and maybe getting my Christmas decorations out might help me a bit.

  2. Thanks, Bailey. I'm feeling a little better. Now if the sinus headache would go away...
