In eleven days I get older. No other way to put it. Chronologically it's happening. The age keeps creeping up. I don't feel older though. Just more... experienced. More of that live-and-learn syndrome. So, I guess that in and of itself could be considered a miracle, especially after the year I've had.
So, twelve days from now will be Thanksgiving. I decided I needed to remind myself of the reasons to be thankful and grateful. I'm going to list them in no particular order:
1) I have met some truly wonderful, funny, and talented ladies this year and they have become good friends. Romance writers all of them. A couple have become really good friends that I adore. [They know who they are.] 2) I made the personal decision to pursue this writing dream of mine. I joined RWA, my local RWA chapter - Yellow Rose, attended my first conference, and have worked on two separate manuscripts. Not finished either one yet, but only a matter of time.
3) The dreaded biopsy came back and I didn't have breast cancer. Scary word "cancer". Glad I don't have to use it in reference to myself.
4) We discovered the cause and are getting treatment for darling daughter's issues. Every day is a trial, but I'm hopeful.
5) My son hasn't deserted the family as a result of neglect. Poor kid. With all the focus on his sister he's been kind of left out of the mix.
6) The day job is going well.
7) In general, my immediate family is in good health.
8) I lived through the year. So far anyway. It isn't over, of course.
9) I'm still excited to be writing, and
10) (sad, but true) I'm looking forward to my first submission and probable rejection letter. It will be a testament to the fact that I actually did it!
What are you thankful for?

ReplyDeleteIf it is rejected, it means you are sending it out and that's what counts! (and once you send that puppy, you can get your PRO pin--yeeeeee!!!!!) and when (not if, because you will) you sell . . . . WAHOO!!!!
